Synopsis
Change is the Story of one mans (Sal Cobos) life long struggle with his addictions. The particular chapter of Sals life that this story covers is the conquering of his first to have, and last to let go of, addiction to food. Most of his life has been spent dreaming of the day when he would finally be able to pursue a career as an actor. It had always been clear to him that it was the chains of Drugs and alcohol that kept him away. Once he was freed from the depths that they had taken him, he was free to pursue his dream. It took years to discover all the damage that addiction had done to him not only physically and mentally, but spiritually as well. A realization of where it all started became all encompassing to Sal, and It was time to ask for help. He had to look at the food. The self loathing was intolerable. The mental, physical, and verbal abuse had become unmanagable. The low self esteem was paralyzing. Something had to Change. Almost simultaneously with Sals awakening, an offer comes to him to work on a film. The preparation for the role that Sal is up for will require him to lose 50-60 lbs. before the shooting will begin. Sal immediately contacts a childhood friend Veronica, who is also a physical trainer, to let her know of the news and ask for her help. Veronica introduces him to a 12 step food program, physical exersise, and some hard core soul searching. Within six months his physical goals are met and amazingly surpassed. The miraculous unexpected transformation takes place when his mental and spriritual growth are forced to follow. Sal becomes the man he has always dreamed of being. His self-esteem is unlike it has ever been. His confidence level begins to rise and the day finally comes when the director must make a decision on who will star in the project. Sal recieves a phone call letting him know that the script has taken a last minute turn and that they will be casting an actor of another race. The devastating news comes as no suprise to him as he realizes that gifts are almost never packaged as we imagine them.
