Director’s Statement

I have set out to tell stories that change lives, if only one idea at a time. As a medicine man must experience many illnesses before he can heal them in others, my life was spent creating chaos and drama only to later serve me. Early in my career I came to the realization that good storytellers were coaxing my subconscious to it’s own human nature of comparison. Each time I was introduced to a likeable or non-threatening character I was being “Hood-Winked” into looking at myself without my permission and without being preached to. This revelation grabbed my attention like no other screaming message I had ever endured. (Some of us can relate.) It was not delivered to me by a forced feeding, and this allowed me to welcome it openly. It was at that moment that I realized- “If someone was getting through to me…then I could definitely get through to others. In taking on the task of my current Feature Film, “Change”, I decided to teach my life’s lesson to an audience of filmgoers and commit to listening. The gentle guidance that I would need, I gave to my love interest in the form of dialogue and actions. I chose to conquer my last demon of compulsive eating by creating a vehicle of film to help me. I knew I could trick myself into facing my fears with the help of a tight production schedule! Ha! Ha! I had to dig deep and be willing to turn myself over to something that I could never take back, and that has become my “Mission Statement”.
